Eline Jongsma was born in 1980 in Groningen, The Netherlands. She attended The Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam from 1999 to 2003. While still a student, she exhibited work at the Van Zoetendaal Gallery in Amsterdam and was nominated as a finalist in the Sandberg Institute's One Minute Award Show for her short film "People".

Since graduating from the Rietveld with a BFA in photography, Eline has exhibited her work in New York (Apex Art, Holland Tunnel Gallery and Stay Gold Gallery), Berlin (NewYorkRioTokiyo Project Space), Amsterdam FOAm
(FOAM museum), Istanbul (Conrad Hotel), and in Kosovo (Galeria Hani i 2 Robertëve). Her photographs have also appeared in magazines and campaigns such as ELLE, Time Out and Mail&Female.

She has received work grants from the Mondriaan Foundation, the European Cultural Foundation (Eurocult), and PRO HELVETIA, the Swiss Cultural Programme Kosovo and has participated in artist residencies in Istanbul, Turkey, and Pristina, Kosovo.

She currently co-directs documentary short films with Kel O'Neill for the Metropolis TV project, a web and television program produced by the internationally acclaimed VPRO TV network. Her latest film, "The Transformation of Genesis P-Orridge", played at the 2009 Los Angeles Film Festival and the 2009 Cinevegas Film Festival. Eline lives and works in New York and Amsterdam
